 School Board Work Session- September 16, 2020

All School Directors were present at Central Administration. The public could view the meeting online, but not attend in person due to COVID. Below is a summary of some of the items and issues that occurred at the Board meeting that may be of interest to our readers. This is not meant to be inclusive of all that took place at the meeting.

During the Finance Report, Board Directors spoke of the additional expenses incurred by the district due to Covid-19. An additional $2.9 million was added to the budget due to Covid-19 expenses.Rick McClure, Board President stated that much discussion will follow in future meetings about these unexpected costs.

According to the Acting Superintendent, Dr. O’Toole, daily conversations are occurring regarding the structure of the second nine weeks of school, as well as reviewing how the hybrid model is working in these first few weeks of school. The Education Subcommittee will take this as their sole agenda item for next week’s meeting, on September 23 at 6 pm. Five community members spoke of the antiracism initiative, NA for Change, at the end of the meeting.
